يا بَني النيلِ تَقَضّى صَومُكُم

يا بَني النيلِ تَقَضّى صَومُكُم

فَاِبتَغوا بِالبِرِّ عُقبى الأَتقِياء

فَاِبتَغوا بِالبِرِّ عُقبى الأَتقِياء

O sons of the Nile, your fast has ended.

O people of the Nile, your fast has ended

So seek through charity the final reward of the God-fearing.

So seek righteousness, the reward of the pious

وَزَكاةُ الفِطرِ هَذا يَومُها

وَزَكاةُ الفِطرِ هَذا يَومُها

فَاِجعَلوها لِيَتامى الشُهَداء

فَاِجعَلوها لِيَتامى الشُهَداء

And this is the day for the alms of breaking the fast;

And the zakat al-fitr is due on this day

So allot them to the martyrs’ orphans.

So give it to the orphans of the martyrs

غيظَتِ الأَنواءُ مِمّا اِنهَمَرَت

غيظَتِ الأَنواءُ مِمّا اِنهَمَرَت

في يَدِ المُختارِ أَيدي الكُرَماء

في يَدِ المُختارِ أَيدي الكُرَماء

The rainstorms were enraged by the outpouring

The weather was enraged at the downpour

Of generous hands into the Chosen One’s hand.

That fell into the hands of the Chosen One, the generous

طافَ يَدعو كُلَّ سَمحٍ مُفَضلٍ

طافَ يَدعو كُلَّ سَمحٍ مُفَضلٍ

سائِغِ المَعروفِ مَعسولِ العَطاء

سائِغِ المَعروفِ مَعسولِ العَطاء

He went about, calling on every open-handed benefactor,

He went around calling every noble generous man

Whose kindness is pleasing, whose giving is honey-sweet,

Of agreeable deeds and sweet gifts

صادِقِ الإيمانِ يَخشى رَبَّهُ

صادِقِ الإيمانِ يَخشى رَبَّهُ

وَيَرى رِضوانَهُ خَيرَ الجَزاء

وَيَرى رِضوانَهُ خَيرَ الجَزاء

Sincere in faith, fearing his Lord,

Truthful in his faith, fearing His Lord

And deeming His good pleasure the best reward.

And seeing His pleasure as the best reward

يا رَسَولَ اللَهِ يَمشي حَولَهُ

يا رَسَولَ اللَهِ يَمشي حَولَهُ

مَلَأُ الرُسلِ وَوَفدُ الأَنبِياء

مَلَأُ الرُسلِ وَوَفدُ الأَنبِياء

O Messenger of God, around whom walk

O Messenger of God, walking around him

The assembly of messengers and the delegation of prophets,

Are the multitudes of messengers and the delegations of prophets

لَكَ مِن مِصرَ وَإِن غيظَ العِدى

لَكَ مِن مِصرَ وَإِن غيظَ العِدى

ما أَقَلَّت مِن نُفوسٍ وَثَراء

ما أَقَلَّت مِن نُفوسٍ وَثَراء

Yours from Egypt, though the foes be enraged,

You have in Egypt, though the enemies were enraged

Is all she bears of souls and wealth.
