ياO رافعيraisers of علمthe banner الجهادjihad تقدّمواadvance
يا رافعي علم الجهاد تقدّموا
ودعواand leave صفوفthe ranks of المحجمينthose who hold back وراءَbehind
ودعوا صفوف المحجمين وراءَ
O raisers of the banner of jihad, advance,
O bearers of the flag of jihad, advance
And leave the ranks of those who hold back behind.
And leave the ranks of the hesitant behind
خُوضواplunge into الكريهةَthe battle حاسرينbareheaded فإنand if طغتswell beyond bounds
خُوضوا الكريهةَ حاسرين فإن طغت
لُجَجُthe deep seas الملاحمِof fierce battles فاركبواthen ride upon الأشلاءَthe severed limbs
لُجَجُ الملاحمِ فاركبوا الأشلاءَ
Plunge into battle bareheaded; and should there surge
Plunge into the battle fearlessly, for if
The deep seas of battle, ride upon the severed limbs.
The tides of war prevail, mount the martyrs
لستمyou are not بنيsons of الشهداءِthe martyrs بوركblessed be عهدهمtheir era
لستم بني الشهداءِ بورك عهدهم
حتىuntil تكونواyou become مثلهمlike them شهداءَmartyrs
حتى تكونوا مثلهم شهداءَ
You are not sons of the martyrs—blessed be their era—
You are not the sons of martyrs - may their era be blessed
Until you become martyrs like them.
