يا رَبِّ أَنتَ المُستَعانُ في الغِيَرْ

يا رَبِّ أَنتَ المُستَعانُ في الغِيَرْ

أَنتَ المَلاذُ وَالحِمى وَالمُعتَصَرْ

أَنتَ المَلاذُ وَالحِمى وَالمُعتَصَرْ

O Lord, You are the one whose aid is sought amid adversity.

O Lord, You are the helper when there is no other

You are the refuge, the sanctuary, and the shelter.

You are the refuge, protector, and confidant

أَنتَ المُرَجّى حينَ يَشتَدُّ الخَطَرْ

أَنتَ المُرَجّى حينَ يَشتَدُّ الخَطَرْ

وَيَفدَحُ الأَمرُ فَما يُرجى المَفَرْ

وَيَفدَحُ الأَمرُ فَما يُرجى المَفَرْ

You are our hope when danger grows severe,

You are the hope when danger becomes severe

And the ordeal weighs heavily, so no escape is hoped for.

And the matter overwhelms, with no escape seen

وَجاشَتِ الأَنفُسُ مِن هَولِ القَدَرْ

وَجاشَتِ الأَنفُسُ مِن هَولِ القَدَرْ

وَقالَ كُلَّ الناسِ كَلّا لا وَزَرْ

وَقالَ كُلَّ الناسِ كَلّا لا وَزَرْ

And souls were in turmoil at the terror of fate.

When souls are in turmoil from fate's intensity

And all the people said, “No indeed—there is no refuge!”

And all say no more, enough, we can bear no more

إِنّا أَقَمنا بَينَ خَوفٍ وَحَذَرْ

إِنّا أَقَمنا بَينَ خَوفٍ وَحَذَرْ

فَما لِنَفسٍ سَكَنٌ أَو مُستَقَرّْ

فَما لِنَفسٍ سَكَنٌ أَو مُستَقَرّْ

Indeed, we have dwelt between fear and apprehension.

We have lived between fear and caution

So no soul has repose or a resting place.

With no peace or rest for the soul anymore

فَهَب لَنا الأَمنَ وَجَنِّبنا الضَرَرْ

فَهَب لَنا الأَمنَ وَجَنِّبنا الضَرَرْ

So grant us safety and keep us from harm.

So grant us security and spare us from harm
