Fear God, O Jadd ibn Qays, and do not obey

your desire; abandon that scheme—it is what it is.

You lied to God's Messenger, concealing something other than what

you say; no secret is hidden from God.

You say to him, 'Grant me leave, and do not seek to tempt me,

for I am a man who gives women my reins.

And the women of the Romans overpower me, undoing

my chastity; so leave me be—what have they to do with me, or I with them?'

So he turned away from him, displeased, and was distressed by

the wickedness of a man who displays his wickedness openly.

And his son came, making him burn in a fire of reproach—

ah, what a fire you are, blazing upon a man!

    دعتكَ إليها من نفاقك دَاعِيَهْ

    He says to him, 'Rather, you have committed a deed of pagan ignorance;

an impulse from your hypocrisy called you to it.

Woe to you, O Jadd ibn Qays! If you repent,

you will be protected; but if you transgress, you have no protector.'
