يا قومُ ماذا تحملو
نَcompletion of “you carry” منof الدّعابةِjest والزّرايهْand contempt
نَ من الدّعابةِ والزّرايهْ
O people, what do you carry
of jest and contempt?
إنif تجهلواyou do not know معنىthe meaning of الحِماthe protectorate (continued)
إن تجهلوا معنى الحِما
يةِcompletion of “the protectorate” فاسألواthen ask أهلَpeople of الدّرايهْknowledge
يةِ فاسألوا أهلَ الدّرايهْ
If you do not know the meaning of a protectorate,
then ask those who know.
كَبّرتُI proclaimed “God is greatest” إذwhen لمdid not تُحسِنواyou perform well
كَبّرتُ إذ لم تُحسِنوا
فيin مِصرَEgypt تمثيلَperforming الرّوايهْthe play
في مِصرَ تمثيلَ الرّوايهْ
I cried “God is greatest!” when you failed
to perform the play well in Egypt.
اللهGod أكبرُgreatest أستعيI seek refuge (continued)
الله أكبرُ أستعي
ذُcompletion of “I seek refuge” بهin Him وأَسأَلُهand I ask Him الوقايهْprotection
ذُ به وأَسأَلُه الوقايهْ
God is greatest! I seek refuge
in Him and ask Him for protection.
لاdo not تظلمواwrong استِقلالَكمyour independence
لا تظلموا استِقلالَكم
حَسْبيenough for me أَأنتمare you (plural)? والحِمايهْand the protectorate
حَسْبي أَأنتم والحِمايهْ
Do not wrong your independence.
