1. انْبعِثْ في الأرضِ يا وَحْيَ السَّماءْ

    واسْرِ يا نُورَ الهُدَى مِلءَ الفَضاءْ

    Arise on earth, O revelation of heaven!

    And travel by night, O light of guidance, filling all space!

  2. انْبَعِثْ كالرُّوحِ يا رُوحَ الرَّجاءْ

    وامْلأ الأكوانَ مِثلَ الكهرباءْ

    Arise like the spirit, O spirit of hope!

    And fill the worlds like electricity!

  3. أنتَ مَعْنَى الخَلْقِ أو سِرُّ البَقاءْ

    يا حياةً ليسَ عنها مِن مَحيدِ

    You are creation's meaning, or the secret of survival.

    O life from which there is no escape

  4. للبرايا من شقِيٍّ وَسَعَيدِ

    امْلأَي الدُّنيا وَزِيدي ثُمَّ زِيدي

    For creatures, wretched and happy alike,

    Fill the world, and grow, then grow again.

  5. لا تَخَافي أَنْ تَزُوليِ أو تَبِيدي

    أنتِ أُمُّ الدّهرِ أو أُخْتُ القضاءْ

    Do not fear that you will vanish or perish;

    You are time's mother, or destiny's sister.

  6. أَوَّلٌ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِن آخِرِ

    يَرْمُقُ الدُّنيا بِعَيْنَيْ ساخِرِ

    A beginning that has no end,

    It surveys the world with a scoffer's eyes,

  7. يَترامَى في عُبابٍ زاخِرِ

    من جَلالٍ عبقريٍّ فاخِرِ

    It reaches far through a swelling sea

    Of extraordinary, splendid majesty,

  8. شامِخَ العِرْنينِ عالي الكِبرياءْ

    يا جلالَ الخلدِ في العزّ المُقيمْ

    With nose held high and towering pride.

    O splendor of immortality in abiding might!

  9. أيّ مُلكٍ مِثْلُ ذا المُلْكِ العظيمْ

    يتجلىَّ في سَلامٍ وَنَعيمْ

    What dominion is like this mighty dominion,

    Revealed in peace and bliss,

  10. مِن عطاءِ اللهِ ذي الفضل العميمْ

    وهو مَوْلَى كُلِّ فَضْلٍ وعَطَاْءْ

    From the bounty of God, whose grace embraces all?

    And He is the bestower of every favor and gift.

  11. أَنْزَلَ القُرآنَ نُوراً وهُدَى

    في بيانٍ بالِغٍ أقْصَى المَدى

    He sent down the Quran as light and guidance,

    In eloquence reaching the farthest bounds;

  12. يَتَوالىَ الصَّوتُ منه والصَّدَى

    إنّ هذا الكونَ لم يُخلَقْ سُدَى

    From it, voice and echo follow one another:

    Indeed, this universe was not created in vain.

  13. فاسْتَفِيقي يا ظُنونَ الجُهَلاءْ

    اسْتَفِيقي إنّه صُبحُ اليَقينْ

    So awaken, O fancies of the ignorant!

    Awaken: it is the dawn of certainty,

  14. جاءَ طلقَ الوجهِ وضّاحَ الجبينْ

    يتحدَّى الناسَ بالحقِّ المُبينْ

    Come with a cheerful face and radiant brow,

    Challenging humankind with manifest truth,

  15. ويَسوسُ الأمرَ من دُنيا ودينْ

    في نظامٍ من سَلامٍ وإخاءْ

    And governing the affairs of worldly life and religion,

    In an order of peace and brotherhood.

  16. يطفِئُ الشَّرِّ بأنفاسِ الجُنَاةْ

    تَنْضَوِي فيها جناياتُ الحياةْ

    It extinguishes evil with the breaths of wrongdoers,

    Within which life's crimes are enfolded.

  17. فَإذا القومُ رُفاتٌ في رُفاتْ

    وإذا ما قدّموا مِن سَيِئاتْ

    Then behold, the people are dust amid dust,

    And behold, whatever evil deeds they sent ahead

  18. طارَ في آثارهم مِثلُ الهَباءْ

    يا طبيبَ الدّاءِ يُودِي بالطّبيبْ

    Have flown in their wake like motes of dust.

    O healer of the illness that kills the healer!

  19. ما لِقومِي مِنْكَ في شكٍّ مُريبْ

    غاب لُبُّ الأمرِ عن عِلمِ اللّبيبْ

    Why are my people in disquieting doubt about you?

    The heart of the matter has eluded the wise man's knowledge.

  20. يا عجيباً دُونَهُ كلُّ عجيبْ

    أين من سِرِّكَ سِرُّ الكِيميَاءْ

    O wonder beside which every wonder pales!

    Where is alchemy's secret beside your own?

  21. صانِعٌ يُحسِنُ إنشاءَ النُّفوسْ

    فَهْيَ في إشراقِها مِثلُ الشُّموسْ

    A maker skilled in fashioning souls,

    So in their radiance they are like suns;

  22. وحكيمٌ تَنْحَني شُمُّ الرُّؤوسْ

    تَتلَقَّى من عِظاتٍ وَدُروسْ

    And a sage before whom proud heads bow,

    Receiving admonitions and lessons—

  23. ما وَعَى للمؤمنين الحُكماءْ

    وَكَّلَ اللهُ به مِن أَهْلِهِ

    What sages have preserved for believers.

    God charged with its care, from among its followers,

  24. مَعْشراً ضَمُّوا القُوَى في ظِلِّهِ

    وبَنُوا بُنيانَهمْ مِن أجلِهِ

    A band who united their forces beneath its shade,

    And built their edifice for its sake;

  25. فجَزاهم ربُّهم من فضلهِ

    صَالِحَ الأجرِ ومَوفورَ الجزاءْ

    So their Lord rewarded them from His bounty

    With worthy recompense and abundant reward.

  26. عَلِّمُوهُ الناسَ إذ مالَ الهَوَى

    بِزَمانٍ صَدَّ عنه فَغَوى

    Teach it to the people, for caprice has swayed

    An age that turned from it and went astray.

  27. لو جَرَى الأمرُ عليهِ ما الْتَوَى

    هَلْ لأهلِ الأرضِ من هادٍ سِوَى

    Had affairs proceeded according to it, they would not have gone awry.

    Have the people of earth any guide other than

  28. ما وَعَى الذّكرُ من الآي الوِضاءْ

    يا رِجَالَ اللهِ زِيدُوا اللَه نَصْرا

    The radiant verses the Reminder contains?

    O men of God, give God ever more support,

  29. واعْصْفُوا بالدِّهرِ إيماناً وصَبْرا

    لا تَلِينُوا إنّها الأحداثُ تَتْرَى

    And storm through time with faith and patience.

    Do not weaken; calamities follow one another,

  30. والجهادُ الحقُّ بالأبطالِ أَحْرَى

    يا رجالَ اللِه سِيروا باللِّواءْ

    And true struggle befits heroes best.

    O men of God, march with the banner!

  31. أَنتمُ القُوَّادُ خُوضُوا بالجنودْ

    لُجَجَ الهيجاءِ من حُمْرٍ وسُودْ

    You are the commanders; plunge with the troops

    Into battle's surging depths, red and black.

  32. نَزِّهُوا الإسلامَ عن دعوى الجُمودْ

    أَفَيُدْعَى جامداً رُوحُ الوُجودْ

    Clear Islam of the charge of stagnation;

    Is the spirit of existence, then, to be called inert?

  33. هكذا تَعْمَى قُلوبُ الأغبياءْ

    الكِفاحُ اشتدَّ والبأسُ احْتَدَمْ

    Thus the hearts of fools go blind.

    The struggle has grown fierce, and battle rages.

  34. ربَّنا انْصُرْ قومَنا في المُزْدَحَمْ

    واجْعَلِ الإسلامَ مرفوعَ العَلَمْ

    Our Lord, grant our people victory in the press of battle,

    And let Islam's banner be raised high.

  35. ربَّنا لا تُخْزِنا بين الأُمَمْ

    إنّه المجدُ وإرثُ الأنبياءْ

    Our Lord, do not disgrace us among the nations;

    Indeed, it is glory and the prophets' inheritance.

  36. كنْ لنا فالأمرُ أمرُ القادرِ

    ما لِشَعْبٍ عاجزٍ من ناصِرِ

    Be on our side, for command belongs to the All-Powerful.

    A helpless people has no champion.

  37. لا تَدَعْنَا مَغْنمَاً لِلظّافرِ

    واسْتَجبْها دعوةً من شاعِرِ

    Do not leave us as spoils for the victor,

    And answer this prayer from a poet

  38. يبتغِي وَجْهَكَ بين الشُّعراءْ

    يُرسِلُ الشّعرَ شُعاعاً سَارِيا

    Who seeks Your countenance among the poets,

    Sending poetry forth as a traveling ray,

  39. ودماً في كلِّ عِرْقٍ جاريا

    يرتوِي منه نقيّاً صافياً

    And as blood flowing in every vein.

    He drinks his fill of it, pure and clear.

  40. ربِّ فاجْعَلْني إماماً هاديا

    واهْدنِي في المؤمنينَ الأصفياءْ

    My Lord, then make me a leader who guides,

    And guide me among the pure-hearted believers.
