    لابن الحُسَيْنِ تحيّةً وسلاما

    The house of Arabdom raises the banners,

    For the son of al-Husayn, in greeting and peace;

    أعلى النُّجومِ المشرقاتِ مَقاما

    For the scion of the exalted chieftains of Hashim,

    Highest in station among the shining stars;

    Who build their thrones upon al-Simak,

    A light the suns find hard to attain.

    A people who, when they raise a wall for a kingdom,

    Make spearheads and swords its supports.

    O son of al-Husayn, a greeting from a nation

    That guards your house’s sanctity and keeps faith with it.

    The house of prophethood—its shade has sheltered

    The peoples of the Book and protected Islam.

    God brought forth guidance from its precincts,

    And made revelation and inspiration course within it.

    Had light not risen from its horizons,

    The world would still be surging with darkness.

    You are no guest to be bid farewell tomorrow,

    O you who, whenever you resolve to depart, remain!
