Why do tears flow over mere suspicion?

The neighbor is faithful, and love fosters fellowship.

Do not deny the Prophet's love for his family

and his former homes, nor grieve.

Be patient: there is no turning away from loved ones.

Yathrib it is; there is no stopping short of it,

the abode of life and the resting place in death,

besides which I have none; if you did not know, then know.”

an eye overflowing nor a heart trembling.

flutter and bend around him in ardent love.

His supporters in calamities when they run rampant,

and his soldiers in war when it rages.

They treated him justly, an exile suffering harm

from every tyrant who acts unjustly.

And they gathered around him, honoring his standing,

while his kinsfolk turned away and shunned him.

without his dwelling being more honored and nobler.

They tightened Islam's bonds until they grew firm,

and its tightly twisted rope bent the forearms.

They were the foundation of its building and its pillar,

while the earth was made to sink and lofty peaks were blasted away.

Behold God's edifice around His Messenger,

and describe the summits, if they can be described.

On each of its ramparts a host looses arrows,

assailing those who disbelieved, while death advances.

and the decree took effect: they are more abased and weaker.

O company of the Ansar, there is no good deed

in which you have not lent a hand or taken a stand.

Yours are the deeds whose stories are never told

without Time acclaiming them and crying aloud.

Poetry is not suspect when it goes to the utmost

in extolling your virtues, nor am I going too far.

And is it not enough for you—what your God says

in praise of you, and what the Qur'an contains of it?
