Far beyond reach, far beyond reach! Your plight has grown grave.
Alas, alas, your affairs have become serious

You broke the covenant made on decayed ropes
With a partner who intended neither deceit nor treachery.
By a covenantor who intended no deceit or decay

Among your innermost being until it was kindled and ignited

The events of Badr were provoked by your rage
And awakened in you the malady that had lain dormant.
And your dormant affliction was awakened by you

While God manifested it with an example of His light

For humankind by Him who ordained religions and creeds.
For people, by the One who legislated religions and faiths

Glory to Him who transmitted the inheritance and it was transmitted

Why did you not ask your brother when He sends souls
A raging tempest, evil sweeping through it—what he had done?
Did he come sweeping evil away, what did he do?

Would prefer death over the alternative she was offered

And what had been joined to his covenant was severed.

Hoping in God, rejecting deviation and error.

Their fugitive had tasted neither sword nor warrior.
Their fleers did not taste a sword or a leg

Their elders schemed, then exhausted their stratagems.
And their elders devised stratagems and exhausted their tricks

To know what was inside him, he would have been relieved

They pleaded, asking a powerful man for pardon,
They supplicated, asking the Forgiver for pardon
Who gives pardon freely when a man of power withholds it.
He freely pardons, for the Omnipotent does not withhold

He gave life to souls with His generosity
And was the most generous of those who gave and bestowed.
So He was more generous than one who gave and spent

Of weapons, departing submissive and humbled.
Abandoning arms and going humbly, submissive

Suffering the evil of torment and hated affliction

Some blamed others for the ignorance that existed
On others; whoever draws near hears their wrangling.
So whoever draws near can hear them arguing

Proceeding so neither citadel nor mountain remains

So conquer the earth with it, or wipe away realms with it.
So conquer the land with it or erase states with it
