    O Damanhur, watch for him in procession,

    Keeping watch over the matter with a sleepless eye.

    لا تُبالي بالقُلوبِ النَّافِرَهْ

    And make ready, and gather the people of the villages;

    Pay no heed to recoiling hearts.

    And let the trumpets' sound stir sorrow in

    The people of Aswan and the people of Cairo.

    Indeed, at the reservoir are their bearers,

    As many as the seething cares in Egypt.

    They frightened him and raised around him

    An uproar that harms pure souls.

    The people will say: “A dazzling victory,

    And triumphant troops from among our kin!”

    They have many tales of applause,

    And accounts of surging crowds.

    إنّه يومُ الجُدودِ العَاثِرهْ

    O Damanhur, describe their day to me;

    Indeed, it is a day of stumbling fortunes.

    وَاصْبِري حَتَّى تَدورَ الدائرهْ

    Do not think the affair will long endure;

    And be patient until the wheel turns.

    Indeed, the most foolish person in this world is surely the one

    Who remembers this life and forgets the hereafter.
