You shone as a star amid the darkness of calamities;
You shone in the darkness of tribulations like a star
by it the path grew clear, and the way became plain.
The path became clear by it and the approach was evident

joyfully toward you, and came forward, watching expectantly.
With joy towards you and came closer expecting

Neither the opponent deceives him nor he is defeated

تَشقى البِلادُ عَلى يَدَيهِ وَتُنكَبُ
Is it a mark of honor to abase ourselves before a usurper,
Are we too proud to be humiliated by an aggressor
at whose hands the land suffers and is stricken?
While the countries suffer at his hands and stumble

Indeed, he who claimed civilization is a curse
which the strong hurl at the weak is surely lying.
The strong man hurls it at the weak to belie him
