Through your remembrance, you renew a mourning rite for the East,
You renew mourning for the East with your memory,
and through it we discharge a binding duty to Egypt.
And we fulfill it as an obligation for Egypt.

Through you we remembered days red with battle,
We recalled with you the red days of turmoil,
as you cleaved the billows of fire or wore blood.
That tear through the clouds of fire or don the blood.

On its two flanks rose a dust haze from your struggle,
On both its sides, from your jihad, lie splendor
showing you the radiant morning dusty and dark.
That shows you the open dawn grayer and darker.

You surged, a deep sea, into its overwhelming ordeal,
You rushed in its hated flood impetuously,
confronting the current of death wherever it turned.
Confronting the tide of vileness wherever directed.

Whenever terror overran a valiant man's heart,
If panic ransacked the abode of a hero,
you advanced, driving cavalry back from the protected land's flank.
You would enter, repelling horses from the place of zeal.

You never ceased to brave danger, your banner fluttering,
And you have not ceased to be the fluttering flag, venturesome,
leading a vast army of heroes.
Leading an army of champions noisy and boastful.

we see death as a prize when it bequeaths glory.
When we see death where glory leaves profit.

and repel from it the assailing usurper.
And repel the attacking usurper from it.

We spend the night standing guard, warding off every night intruder,
We stay up vigilant, fearing every knocker,
when the people lie asleep in their beds.
When the people sleep in beds slumbering.

whose longing revisits a heart enthralled by love,
Whose longing renews a grieving heart?

He sees Egypt preferred over her sons with his soul
and than himself, if charged with a task and resolved to act?
And over his soul if he is determined and resolute.

Have they truly squandered judgment and donned blindness?
Is it right they lost reason and felt blindness?

They made the right of Egypt, the Quiver, a stronghold,
They took the right of the disloyal as a stronghold.
so enemies cannot hope to see it demolished.

Daring warriors, from whom no leniency can be hoped for,
Raiders in whom hope of peace is not expected
while an aggressor in Egypt violates the inviolable.
While in Egypt a transgressor makes the unlawful lawful.
