Restore justice, and take it as a covenant.

And safeguard the East in the banner defended by sacrifice.

Come, then raise it as a beacon of truth,

Its radiance overflowing with honor and glory.

When the peoples of the East pass the night bewildered,

It lights their path with guidance and right direction.

The essence of souls most noble in their pledges,

And of gleaming white swords, keenest of edge.

It flutters, then hurls forth mighty heroes,

Who surge into battle on sleek-coated horses.

So if anyone asks me about my people's glory,

I am indeed the most eloquent of poets in reply.

    They sought clear watering places,

And found no watering place like the sword's edge.

And they knew how to build, and were not

Like one who tyrannizes over builders, tearing down.

They would accept for their country only a life

That weighs on the mighty when they grow despotic.

    Whenever people prefer ease,

They hurl themselves into toil and hard labor.

And whoever seeks life as a free man would,

Sees no alternative to bold action.
