The children of this world are held back by their hopes
The sons of this world are held back by hopes
from thinking, even for a day, of death;
From ever reflecting on death.
فلوso if وافتهمcame upon them منfrom بعدafter دهرan age
فلو وافتهم من بعد دهر
لقالواthen they would say بئسhow dreadful فاجئةsudden onset الرزاياcalamities
لقالوا بئس فاجئة الرزايا
and if death came upon them after an age,
So even if death came upon them after an age,
they would say, “How terrible—the sudden onslaught of calamities!”
They would say, “How dreadful the sudden onset of calamities!”
