O company of scholars, give a questioner your ruling,
O scholars, answer a questioner
For your words make the right course clear.
For your words reveal what is right
منwho ذاis it that يعادىopposes اللهGod وهوand he is مذممreviled
من ذا يعادى الله وهو مذمم
مستهجنdisdained مستقبحdeemed vile ملعونaccursed
مستهجن مستقبح ملعون
Who is it that opposes God and is reviled,
Who is it that defies God though condemned
Disdained, deemed vile, accursed?
Debased, despised, accursed?
هلis it خادمservant of السلطانthe sultan وهوand he is مكرمhonored
هل خادم السلطان وهو مكرم
امor خادمservant of القسيسthe priest وهوand he is مهينcontemptible
ام خادم القسيس وهو مهين
Is it the sultan’s servant, who is honored,
Is it the sultan's servant, honored and esteemed
Or the priest’s servant, who is held in contempt?
Or is it the priest's servant, humiliated and mean?
