Among the tribulations of this life is the enmity of an ignorant man,

Who claims to be enlightened, though his understanding is locked shut;

Who makes claims though his understanding is flawed,

اصم عن البرهان اعمى عن الهدى

اصم عن البرهان اعمى عن الهدى

فهل مثله تبغى له الخير او ترجو

فهل مثله تبغى له الخير او ترجو

Deaf to proof, blind to guidance—

Deaf to logic, blind to guidance-

Would you, then, seek good for one like him, or hope for it?

Can you wish goodness for one such as him, or hope for his reform?
