قَصرa palace بِحَمدwith praise of اللَهGod مَقصورُset apart
قَصر بِحَمد اللَه مَقصورُ
بانيهِits builder لِلخَيراتfor good deeds مَبرورُblessed
بانيهِ لِلخَيرات مَبرورُ
A palace, praise be to God, set apart;
A palace blessed by God's praise
Its builder is blessed for his good deeds.
Built by one accepted in righteous ways
هُوَit مَطلَعa rising-place لِبُدورfor full moons أَنديةassemblies
هُوَ مَطلَع لِبُدور أَندية
أَبوابُهاtheir doors لِلنَجحfor success أَكسيرُan elixir
أَبوابُها لِلنَجح أَكسيرُ
It is a rising-place for the full moons of assemblies;
It is a source of light for youth clubs
Their doors are an elixir for success.
With doors of success unlocked
طابواthey were noble أُصولاًin lineage فَشُغلَهُمso their occupation أَبَداًalways
طابوا أُصولاً فَشُغلَهُم أَبَداً
ذكرremembrance وَتَمجيدand glorification وَتَكبيرُand proclaiming God's greatness
ذكر وَتَمجيد وَتَكبيرُ
They are noble in lineage, so their occupation is always
Noble roots made them ever busy
Remembrance, glorification, and proclaiming God's greatness.
With remembrance, praise and glorification
السَيدthe lord الفاروقal-Faruq جَدهمُtheir forefather
السَيد الفاروق جَدهمُ
بِالفَضلfor excellence ضمنَwithin الذكرthe Remembrance مَذكورُmentioned
بِالفَضل ضمنَ الذكر مَذكورُ
The lord al-Faruq, their forefather,
The honored Farooq their grandfather
Is mentioned for his excellence in the Remembrance.
His merits eternally secured
مَدحيmy praise لَهُمfor them خَدمacts of service لِجدِهُمto their forefather
مَدحي لَهُم خَدم لِجدِهُم
وَبِهاand through it مِنfrom الآثامsins تَطهيرُpurification
وَبِها مِن الآثام تَطهيرُ
My praise of them is service to their forefather,
My praise for them serves their ancestor
And through it comes purification from sins.
And from sins provides purification
شَرَفاًan honor بِخدمَتِهِthrough serving him كَماjust as شَرفتgained honor
شَرَفاً بِخدمَتِهِ كَما شَرفت
وَزَهَتand shone بِهاthrough it الولدانthe youths وَالحورُand the houris
وَزَهَت بِها الولدان وَالحورُ
An honor through serving him, just as they gained honor
Honored by serving him as were graced
And shone through it—the youths and the houris.
Youths and maidens in highest station
كَمmany a آيةverse نَزَلَتwas revealed مُوافَقةagreeing with
كَم آية نَزَلَت مُوافَقة
آراءُهُhis views وَالحَقand truth مَنصورُvictorious
آراءُهُ وَالحَق مَنصورُ
Many a verse was revealed in accord with
Many a verse was revealed concurring
His views, with truth triumphant.
With his views, truth manifested for sure
قَدindeed جَلَّis exalted عَنbeyond وَصفيmy description فَحينئذٍso then
قَد جَلَّ عَن وَصفي فَحينئذٍ
تَطويلlengthening مَدحيmy praise فيهِconcerning him تَقصيرُfalling short
تَطويل مَدحي فيهِ تَقصيرُ
He is indeed too exalted for my description; thus,
Beyond my power to describe him fully
To lengthen my praise of him is to fall short.
So brevity in praise is called for
صَلىmay He bless الإِلَهGod عَلىupon مُؤَيدهthe one He strengthened
صَلى الإِلَه عَلى مُؤَيده
بِالنورwith light وَالأَكوانُwhile the worlds دَيجورُpitch-darkness
بِالنور وَالأَكوانُ دَيجورُ
May God bless the one He strengthened
May God bless the one he gave support
With light, while the worlds lay in darkness—
As the worlds shine with his light and cure
المُصطَفىthe Chosen One مِنfrom ذِكرِهِremembrance of him أَبَداًforever
المُصطَفى مِن ذِكرِهِ أَبَداً
لِلملكfor the visible realm وَالمَلَكوتand the unseen realm تَعطيرُperfuming
لِلملك وَالمَلَكوت تَعطيرُ
The Chosen One, whose remembrance forever
Never forgetting the Chosen One
Perfumes the visible and unseen realms.
Who perfumes reign and spirit pure
وَرَضِيَand may He be pleased عَنwith الأَصحابthe Companions قاطِبَةall together
وَرَضِيَ عَن الأَصحاب قاطِبَة
إِذsince كُلَهُمall of them بِالفَضلfor excellence مَشهورُrenowned
إِذ كُلَهُم بِالفَضل مَشهورُ
And may He be pleased with all the Companions,
Pleased with all the companions together
For they are all renowned for excellence.
As their merit is known and secure
ياO ناظِريهِyou who behold it إِنّindeed زائِرهُits visitor
يا ناظِريهِ إِنّ زائِرهُ
حَباout of love لِجدهمُfor their forefather لماجورُsurely rewarded
حَبا لِجدهمُ لماجورُ
O you who behold it, indeed, one who visits it
O you who visit out of love
Out of love for their forefather is surely rewarded.
For their grandfather, blessed and demure
فَلِذاtherefore أَتىcame تاريخُهُits chronogram عَجَبa marvel
فَلِذا أَتى تاريخُهُ عَجَب
قَصرa palace عَلىto الإِحسانbenevolence مَقصورُdevoted exclusively
قَصر عَلى الإِحسان مَقصورُ
Thus its chronogram came as a marvel:
So the date of its building brings wonder
“A palace devoted solely to benevolence.”
A palace of charity well-secured
Sol 6.1
