How many a lovely maiden I have loved,
How many a Ghadah I have loved,
who did not heal my wounds through union!
Whose affection would not heal my wounds.
كيفhow السبيلthe way لوصلهاto union with her
كيف السبيل لوصلها
والحبand love لمdid not يأسرhold captive طموحيmy ambition
والحب لم يأسر طموحي
How can I find a way to be with her,
How can I attain her,
when love has not held my ambition captive?
When love could not captivate my ambitions.
هيshe ليbefore me تدلُّshe takes pride بحسنهاin her beauty
هي لي تدلُّ بحسنها
وأناand I أدلُّI take pride لهاbefore her بروحيin my spirit
وأنا أدلُّ لها بروحي
She takes pride in her beauty before me,
She points to me with her beauty,
and I take pride in my spirit before her.
And I point to her with my soul.
