رُبّ مالٍ قد ضاع من وسط كفّي

فكأني   أعيش   في  عقل  طفل

فكأني أعيش في عقل طفل

Many a sum of money has slipped from the center of my palm;

So it is as though I live in a child's mind.

ألمي   ليس   من   إضاعة  مالٍ

ألمي ليس من إضاعة مالٍ

هو  فانٍ  بل  من  إضاعة عقلي

هو فانٍ بل من إضاعة عقلي

My pain is not from losing money—

It is perishable—but from losing my mind.
