I had indeed said, 'The collection's printing is complete,'

Yet the rhymes kept charging in.

فقلت  لها  أتيتِ  بغير وقت

فقلت لها أتيتِ بغير وقت

فمالك  قسمةُ  غير  الممات

فمالك قسمةُ غير الممات

So I told them, 'You have come at the wrong time;

So you have no share but death.'

فعرقل   حظّها  آلات  طبعِ

فعرقل حظّها آلات طبعِ

فكان  لها نصيب في الحياة

فكان لها نصيب في الحياة

Then their good fortune stalled the printing presses,

And so they had a share in life.
