يا جاعلين من القريض بضاعة

لم   تحو   إلا  السجع  و  الأوزانا

لم تحو إلا السجع و الأوزانا

O you who make merchandise of poetry,

O you who turn poetry into a commodity,

You possess nothing but rhymed prose and meters.

That contains nothing but rhymed prose and meters:

ان تجعلوا الإعلان مصدر صيتكم

ان تجعلوا الإعلان مصدر صيتكم

أجعلْ   لصيتي   هجْوكم   اعلانا

أجعلْ لصيتي هجْوكم اعلانا

If you make advertising the source of your renown,

If you make advertising the source of your fame,

I shall surely make my lampoon of you an advertisement for your renown.

I shall make lampooning you an advertisement for my fame.
