O gazelle of the clan, from the tamarisks of Najd,

Toward your face I turn, and loving you is my aim.

And your claim, as I persist in youthful passion,

Is upon me, for me, in what precedes me, and with me.

I yearn when the south wind smiles,

Perfumed by the sweep of Hind's train.

And I long for Najd's east wind whenever

It drifts by night among moringa trees and sweet bay.

And the coquettish beloved is envied

By every bough of graceful, slender stature.

His glances gave the lovers a cup to drink,

Which his beauty spot graced with a seal of perfume.

So they went, drunk with love for him,

    Without end and without limit.

My prayer is forever toward the qibla of his face,

And kissing the roses of his cheeks is my daily devotion.
