فمنso who المُلامthe one to blame إذاif شكوتُI complain .. سواياother than me ؟
فمن المُلام إذا شكوتُ .. سوايا ؟
I avert my gaze from their ugly deeds.
I avert my eyes from their ugly deeds,
Who, then, is to blame if I complain, other than me?
For who can I blame if I complain of my own misery?
أوَلستُand am I not منthe one who راودتُI coaxed قلبيmy heart عنهمُon their behalf
أوَلستُ من راودتُ قلبي عنهمُ
تعساًwoe لبابٍto a door .. أشرعَتْهُopened it wide يداياmy two hands
تعساً لبابٍ .. أشرعَتْهُ يدايا
And am I not the one who coaxed my heart on their behalf?
Did I not entice my heart away from them?
Woe to a door my hands flung open.
Woe to the door that my own hands opened.
