وما التذاذي بدنيا ما بلغتُ بها
طيبsweetness الحياةof life ولاnor جادتit bestowed generously بحاجاتيwith my needs
طيب الحياة ولا جادت بحاجاتي
And what delight is mine in a world where I have not attained
I have no joy in this life that does not fulfill
The sweetness of life, and which has not granted me what I need?
My needs nor brings me comfort and tranquility
ياضيعةO waste العمرof life إنif ولّىit passed بلاwithout هدفa goal
ياضيعة العمر إن ولّى بلا هدف
إنif ترضyou are pleased عنّيwith me فقدthen indeed أدركتُI attained غاياتيmy goals
إن ترض عنّي فقد أدركتُ غاياتي
O, what a waste of life if it passes without a goal!
A life without purpose is time gone to waste
If you are pleased with me, then I have attained my goals.
If you are pleased with me, my purpose is complete
