وهل ينجيك بُعدُكَ أو سلوّي

وهل ينجيك بُعدُكَ أو سلوّي

وهل  يغنيكَ راقٍ أو طبيب ؟!

وهل يغنيكَ راقٍ أو طبيب ؟!

And can your distance or my forgetting save you?

Will remoteness grant or soothe thee respite

And can a spiritual healer or a physician help you?!

Or physician heal or rapture give surcease?

على قيد الحياة تُرى ولكن

على قيد الحياة تُرى ولكن

من الأشواقِ أرداك النحيبُ

من الأشواقِ أرداك النحيبُ

You appear to be alive, and yet

Though alive we see thee, yet for sheer longing

Sobbing born of longing has slain you.

Grief at thy absence makes thee cease to live.

دع الأقدار تحكم إنّ يوماً

دع الأقدار تحكم إنّ يوماً

لمرتقبٍ عدالتها .. قريبُ

لمرتقبٍ عدالتها .. قريبُ

Let the fates judge; indeed, a day

Let Destiny rule! For Justice will swiftly

Is near for one awaiting their justice.

Visit the patient -- a day that is near.
