أتعجبُ أن ترَى مثلي جفولًا

أتعجبُ أن ترَى مثلي جفولًا

ومثلكَ لم يُبِن إلا جنونَهْ

Are you surprised to see one like me so skittish,

I wonder that you see one like me aloof

When one like you has revealed nothing but his madness?

While one like you showed naught but madness

لميدانِ الهوى أقبلتَ كُلًّا

لميدانِ الهوى أقبلتَ كُلًّا

وكلّكَ  مقسمٌ ألا يخونَه

وكلّكَ مقسمٌ ألا يخونَه

Into passion's arena you came with your whole self,

You came to love's field completely

And every part of you is sworn not to betray it.

Yet you swore you'd never betray it

بربّكَ كيفَ لا أخشى غرامًا

بربّكَ كيفَ لا أخشى غرامًا

جمعتَ بسحركَ الطّاغي فنونَه

جمعتَ بسحركَ الطّاغي فنونَه

By your Lord, how can I not fear a love

By your Lord, how can I not fear love

Whose arts you have gathered with your overpowering magic?

When with your sorcerous arts you've perfected it
