مَنَعناwe protected الرَسولَthe Messenger رَسولَthe messenger of المَليكِthe Sovereign
بِبيضٍwith bright swords تَلَألأُgleam لمعthe flashing of البُروقِthe lightning
We protected the Messenger, the Messenger of the Sovereign,
The messenger prevented us, the messenger of the King
With bright swords that gleam like lightning,
With shining white that gleamed like lightning
بِضَربٍwith blows يُذَبِّبُwards off دونَin defense against النِهابِthe plunder
حذارَfor fear of الوَثائِرِthe vendettas وَالخَنفَقيقِand the dire calamity
With blows that ward off plunder,
With blows that pierce without mercy
For fear of vendettas and dire calamity.
Beware of rebellion and the clashing of swords
أَذُبُّI defend وَأَحميand I protect رَسولَthe messenger of المَليكِthe Sovereign
حِمايَةَthe protection of حانٍa tender-hearted one عَلَيهِtoward him شَفيقِcompassionate
I defend and protect the Messenger of the Sovereign,
I deter and protect the messenger of the King
With the protection of one tender and compassionate toward him.
As a devoted guardian, caring for him
وَماand not إِنat all (emphatic) أَدُبُّI creep لِأَعدائِهِtoward his enemies
دَبيبَthe creeping of البِكارِthe young camels حذارَfor fear of الفَنيقِthe prized bull camel
And I do not creep toward his enemies
And I do not deter his enemies
As young camels creep in fear of the prized bull camel;
With the prowling of hyenas, beware of treachery
وَلَكِنand yet أَزيرُI roar لَهُمat them سامِياًstanding tall
كَماjust as زارَroared لَيثٌa lion بِغيلٍin a thicket مَضيقِnarrow
But I roar at them, standing tall,
Rather I visit upon them loftily
As a lion roared in a narrow thicket.
As a lion visited a narrow valley
