أَتَعلَمُ مَلكَ الحُبشِ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً

أَتَعلَمُ مَلكَ الحُبشِ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً

نَبِيٌّ كَموسى وَالمَسيحِ اِبنِ مَريَمِ

نَبِيٌّ كَموسى وَالمَسيحِ اِبنِ مَريَمِ

Do you know, O king of the Abyssinians, that Muhammad

Does the King of Abyssinia know that Muhammad

is a prophet like Moses and the Messiah, son of Mary?

Is a prophet like Moses and Jesus son of Mary?

أَتى بِهُدىً مِثلَ الَّذي أَتَيا بِهِ

أَتى بِهُدىً مِثلَ الَّذي أَتَيا بِهِ

وَكُلٌّ بِأَمرِ اللَهِ يَهدي وَيَعصِمِ

وَكُلٌّ بِأَمرِ اللَهِ يَهدي وَيَعصِمِ

He came with guidance like that which they both brought,

He came with guidance similar to what they brought

and each, by God's command, guides and protects.

And each, by God's command, guides and protects.

وَإِنَّكُمُ تَتلونَهُ في كِتابِكُم

وَإِنَّكُمُ تَتلونَهُ في كِتابِكُم

بِصِدقِ حَديثٍ لا بِصِدقِ التَرَجُّمِ

بِصِدقِ حَديثٍ لا بِصِدقِ التَرَجُّمِ

And indeed you read of him in your scripture,

You read it in your scripture truthfully

with the truth of an account, not with the truth of conjecture.

Not by the truth of translation.

فَلا تَجعَلوا لِلَّهِ نِدّاً وَأَسلِموا

فَلا تَجعَلوا لِلَّهِ نِدّاً وَأَسلِموا

وَإِنَّ طَريقَ الحَقِّ لَيسَ بِمُظلِمِ

وَإِنَّ طَريقَ الحَقِّ لَيسَ بِمُظلِمِ

So do not set up a rival to God, and submit.

So do not set up rivals to God, and submit,

And indeed the path of truth is not dark.

For the path of truth is not dark.
