أَسبَلَت عَبرَةٌ عَلى الوَجَناتِ

أَسبَلَت عَبرَةٌ عَلى الوَجَناتِ

قَد مَرَتها عَظيمَة الحَسَراتِ

قَد مَرَتها عَظيمَة الحَسَراتِ

A tear streamed down the cheeks,

Wrung forth by grievous sorrows,

لِأَخِ سَيِّدٍ نَجيبٍ لِقَرمٍ

لِأَخِ سَيِّدٍ نَجيبٍ لِقَرمٍ

سيّدٍ في الذُرى مِنَ الساداتِ

سيّدٍ في الذُرى مِنَ الساداتِ

For a brother, a highborn lord, for a chieftain,

A lord upon the heights among lords.

سَيِّدٌ وَاِبنُ سادَةٍ أَحرَزوا المَج

سَيِّدٌ وَاِبنُ سادَةٍ أَحرَزوا المَج

دَ قَديماً وَشَيَّدوا المَكرُماتِ

دَ قَديماً وَشَيَّدوا المَكرُماتِ

A lord, and son of lords who attained glory

Long ago, and built up deeds of honor.

جَعَلَ اللَهُ مَجدَهُ وَعُلاهُ

جَعَلَ اللَهُ مَجدَهُ وَعُلاهُ

في بَنيهِ نَجابَةً وَالبَناتِ

في بَنيهِ نَجابَةً وَالبَناتِ

God placed his glory and his eminence

As nobility in his sons and daughters,

مِن بَني هاشِمٍ وَعَبدِ مَنافِ

مِن بَني هاشِمٍ وَعَبدِ مَنافِ

وَقُصَيٍّ أَربابِ أَهلِ الحَياةِ

وَقُصَيٍّ أَربابِ أَهلِ الحَياةِ

Of the descendants of Hashim and ʿAbd Manaf,

And Qusayy, lords of the living.

حَيُّهُم سَيِّدٌ لِأَحياءِ ذا الخَل

حَيُّهُم سَيِّدٌ لِأَحياءِ ذا الخَل

قِ وَمَن ماتَ سَيِّدُ الأَمواتِ

قِ وَمَن ماتَ سَيِّدُ الأَمواتِ

He who lives among them is lord of the living of this creation;

And whoever has died is lord of the dead.
