عَينُO eye اِئذَنيgive leave بِبُكاءٍfor weeping آخِرَuntil the end of الأَبَدِeternity
عَينُ اِئذَني بِبُكاءٍ آخِرَ الأَبَدِ
وَلاand do not تَمَلّيgrow weary عَلىover قَرمٍa noble chief لَناfor us سَنَدِa support
وَلا تَمَلّي عَلى قَرمٍ لَنا سَنَدِ
O eye, give leave for weeping till the end of time,
My eyes bid me weep till the end of time
And never tire of mourning a noble chief who was our support.
And shed tears that flow and never tire

I lament the intense grief I feel for him,
I complain of the intense longing that pains me
And the pains and anguish within my heart.
And the grief and sorrows that fill my heart
أَضحىbecame أَبوهُhis father لَهُfor him يَبكيweeping وَإِخوتُهُand his brothers

His father weeps for him, and his brothers too
With every tear flowing ceaselessly down both cheeks.
Tears streaming down their cheeks evermore
لَوif عاشَhe had lived كانَhe would have been لِفِهرٍfor Fihr كُلِّهاall of it عَلَماًa banner
لَو عاشَ كانَ لِفِهرٍ كُلِّها عَلَماً
إِذsince كانَhe was مِنهاamong them مكانَin the position of الروحِthe soul لِلجَسَدِto the body
إِذ كانَ مِنها مكانَ الروحِ لِلجَسَدِ
Had he lived, he would have been a banner for all of Fihr,
Had he lived, he would have been a banner
For he was to them what the soul is to the body.
For all the clans, as the soul is to the body
