إذا زرناك والمدح اقتضابُ
You are generous and lordly; your bounty is there for the taking
Whenever we visit you, and praise is improvised.
أخوانa betrayer? (wordplay on a dining table) وماand not أبقيتyou have kept مالاany wealth
أخوان وما أبقيت مالا
وأبوابand doors وقدand already رفعhas been lifted الحجابthe curtain
وأبواب وقد رفع الحجاب
A table—a “betrayer”—though you have kept no wealth?
