    الى معاطف كالأغصان من كثبِ

    At your service, at your service, O caller to revelry close at hand!

    To supple forms like branches springing from dunes;

    ان الغدائر كالخلخال في صبب

    Indeed, their necks rise like lilies;

    Indeed, their braids fall like an anklet.

    To the cheeks of Roman maidens, which have emerged

    From their veils and turned the eyes of the Arabs.

    Each unveiling a face radiant with bashfulness,

    In it are two embroidered bands: of water and of flame.

    And she smiled, revealing pearls [uncertain reading] or hailstones,

    Almost dripping with the teeth’s watery freshness [uncertain reading].

    Young men lead her with song, their faces fashioned

    From contentment, and their spearheads [uncertain reading] from anger.
