The gardens of Riyadh are attributed to the clouds, noble

and their place with the breeze is delightful.

And its place with the breeze is gentle

فاشرب وثقل وزن جامك انه

يوم على قلب الزمان خفيف

يوم على قلب الزمان خفيف

So drink, and make your goblet heavy, for it is

a day that lies lightly on Time's heart.

Is a day on the heart of time, light

أو ما ترى طرز البروق توسطت

Or do you not see the lines of lightning that split

a horizon where the rain clouds seem like sheer veils?

A horizon as if the downpour in it is pouring

واليوم من خجل الشقيق مضرج

خجل ومن مرض النسيم ضعيف

خجل ومن مرض النسيم ضعيف

And the day is flushed with the anemone's shyness,

And today the anemone is blushing from shyness

bashful, and weak from the breeze's sickness.

Bashful, and from the sickness of the breeze, weak

والارض طرس والرياض سطوره

والزهر شكل بينها وحروف

And the earth is a parchment, and the gardens are its lines,

And the land is pavement and the gardens are its lines

and the blossoms, vowel marks and letters among them.

And the flowers shapes between them and letters

وكأنما الدولاب ضل طريقه

وكأنما الدولاب ضل طريقه

فتراه ليس يزول وهو يطوف

فتراه ليس يزول وهو يطوف

And it is as though the waterwheel has lost its way,

And it is as if the wheel has lost its way

so you see it staying in place even as it circles.

So you see it does not disappear while it spins
