أنا الوليّ الذي إذا كُشِفَت

أنا الوليّ الذي إذا كُشِفَت

أسرارُهُ قيلَ أخلصَ الرَّجُلُ

أسرارُهُ قيلَ أخلصَ الرَّجُلُ

I am the loyal friend who, when his secrets are revealed,

I am the loyal friend who, upon the disclosure of

is spoken of thus: “The man was sincere.”

His secrets, is called a sincere man.

مودَّةٌ لا يشينُها ملقٌ

مودَّةٌ لا يشينُها ملقٌ

ونيَّةٌ لا يشوبُها دَخَلُ

ونيَّةٌ لا يشوبُها دَخَلُ

My affection is marred by no flattery,

Affection that no flattery mars,

and no hidden guile taints my intent.

And an intention that no deceit taints.

إذا دَنَا فالولاءُ مُشتهرٌ

إذا دَنَا فالولاءُ مُشتهرٌ

وإن نأى فالثَّناءَ مُتَّصلُ

وإن نأى فالثَّناءَ مُتَّصلُ

If he draws near, loyalty is my hallmark;

When he draws near, loyalty is manifest;

and if he stays afar, my praise of him continues.

And if he is far away, praise is unceasing.
