لا بد للمعتلِّ من آسي

لا بد للمعتلِّ من آسي

والناس في دنياك بالنَّاس

والناس في دنياك بالنَّاس

Whoever relies on others must have someone to comfort him;

The ailing must have a healer.

and in your world, people depend upon people.

And in your world, people depend on one another.

وحامل الرقعة ذو حاجة

وحامل الرقعة ذو حاجة

قضاؤها ما فيه من باس

قضاؤها ما فيه من باس

The bearer of the petition is someone with a need;

And the bearer of the note has a need;

there is no harm in fulfilling it.

fulfilling it entails no harm.

فاشفع له تؤجر وإن لم تجد

فاشفع له تؤجر وإن لم تجد

فسلِّه إن شئت أو واس

فسلِّه إن شئت أو واس

So intercede for him and be rewarded—and if you find no way,
