إنيindeed, I رأيتhave seen العزّhonor مستودعاًlodged
إني رأيت العزّ مستودعاً
فيin خدمةthe service of الخلاقthe Creator سبحانَهglory be to Him
في خدمة الخلاق سبحانَه
Indeed, I have seen honor laid up
Indeed, I have seen honor lodged
in serving the Creator—glory be to Him.
In the service of the Creator—glory be to Him.
وخادمand the servant of المخلوقa created being فيin ذلّةabasement
وخادم المخلوق في ذلّة
تعمّencompasses أهليهhis family وجيرانهand his neighbors
تعمّ أهليه وجيرانه
But one who serves a creature lives in abasement
And the servant of a created being is in abasement
that engulfs his household and his neighbors.
That extends to his family and his neighbors.
وَقِفand stand ببابِat the door of اللهِGod مستمطراًseeking showers of
وَقِف ببابِ اللهِ مستمطراً
إنعامَهُHis bounty الجمَّabundant وإحسانهand His kindness
إنعامَهُ الجمَّ وإحسانه
Stand at God’s door, asking to be showered with
And stand at God's door, seeking showers of
His abundant bounty and beneficence.
His abundant bounty and His kindness.
ولاand do not تٌُرَجِّhope for النفعَbenefit منfrom غيرهanyone other than Him
ولا تٌُرَجِّ النفعَ من غيره
فالطّرسُfor the parchment قدalready أعطاكhas given you عنوانهits heading
فالطّرسُ قد أعطاك عنوانه
And hope for no benefit from anyone but Him,
And do not hope for benefit from anyone but Him,
for harm has already given you its address.
For the parchment has already given you its heading.
