Sol 6

  1. لأهلِ الهَوى في الدَّمع والسُّهدِ لَذَّةٌ

    إذا اختُبرَت لم تُبقِ حِسّاً ولا عَقلا

    For lovers, there is pleasure in tears and sleeplessness.

    When tasted, it leaves neither sense nor reason intact.

  2. لآثارِهِم إيثارُ كُلِّ متَيَّمٍ

    يُنَافِسُ في المَحبُوبِ بِالثَّمَنِ الأغلَى

    Every lovesick soul prefers their traces,

    competing for the beloved at the highest price.

  3. لأسرارِ هَذا الحُبِّ بالقَلبِ لَوطَةٌ

    فيَفنى ومَا تفنى وَيَبلَى ومَا تَبلى

    The secrets of this love cling to the heart:

    the heart perishes, but they do not; it wears away, but they do not.

  4. لأَجلِكَ هذا القَلبُ يهفُو مَحَبَّةً

    وإن كَنتَ لَم تمطرهُ طَلاًّ ولا وَبلا

    For your sake, this heart yearns with love,

    though you have showered it with neither dew nor rain.

  5. لأنَّكَ لي سُؤلٌ وأنَّكَ لي مُنىً

    وأنَّكَ لي حِبٌّ وأنَّكَ لي مَولى

    For you are what I seek, and you are my hope;

    you are my beloved, and you are my lord.

  6. لآلُىء دَمعي فيكَ ينشرُها الأسى

    تَخافُ النَّوى طَوراً وتَرتِقَبُ الوَصلا

    Grief scatters the pearls of my tears for you;

    at times they fear separation, and at times they await reunion.

  7. لأنتَ الَّذي ما لِلهوى عَنهُ مَذهبٌ

    فَمَقصَدُكَ الأعلَى ومَورِدُكَ الأحلَى

    You are the one from whom love has no path away;

    your destination is the loftiest, and your watering place the sweetest.

  8. لأمرٍ رَجَوتُ الوَعدَ مِنكَ لأنَّني

    إذا نِلتُ منكَ الوَعدَ لم أحذَرِ المَطلا

    For a reason, I hoped for a promise from you, because

    if I gained your promise, I would not fear delay.

  9. لإغبابِ مَرآكَ الفُؤادُ مُدَلَّهٌ

    فآونَةً يُضحي وآونَةً يُصلى

    With sightings of you so far apart, the heart is distraught:

    at times it passes the day, and at times it burns.

  10. لَئن لم أنَل منك المُنى فَلِعِلَّةٍ

    وإن نِلتُها يَوماً فَلَستُ لهَا أهلا

    If I do not gain what I wish from you, there is a reason;

    and if I gain it one day, I am unworthy of it.
