قل لمن يحسدكم

قل لمن يحسدكم

يضرب فيه أصدريه

يضرب فيه أصدريه

Say to whoever envies you,

beating both his sides over it:

أبصرت عيناهُ ما

أبصرت عيناهُ ما

كذّبَه عن أذنيه

كذّبَه عن أذنيه

His two eyes have seen what

he had disbelieved when his ears heard it.

ورأى أوسطَ مجدٍ

ورأى أوسطَ مجدٍ

قد نبا عن طرفيه

قد نبا عن طرفيه

And he saw the heart of a glory

that had risen beyond both its bounds.

قال كم ذا تفرغون

قال كم ذا تفرغون

الشّكر والذّكر عليه

الشّكر والذّكر عليه

He said, 'How long will you keep pouring

thanks and praise upon him?'

قلت كلّ الشّكر منّا

قلت كلّ الشّكر منّا

بعض آثار يديه

بعض آثار يديه

I said, 'All our thanks

are but some traces of his two hands.

فله فضل علينا

فله فضل علينا

وبنا شوق إليه

وبنا شوق إليه

For he has shown us kindness,

and we long for him.'
