And a round-eyed youth, with gracefully swaying limbs—

his charms among people have become like a species within a genus.

He runs the fingertips of his hand over the paper,

and discerns the faintest writing with the slightest touch.

فقال فريق سحر بابل عنده

وقال فريق ليس هذا من الإِنس

Then one group said: he possesses the magic of Babylon.

And another group said: this one is not of humankind.

فقلت لهم لم تفهموا سرَّ دركه

على أنه للعقل أجلى من الشَّمس

So I said to them: you have not understood the secret of his perception,

though it is clearer to the mind than the sun.

A youth whose palm is a well of hearts; thus
