سلام وتقديم التحية واجب

على الملأ الأزكى الذين أخاطب

على الملأ الأزكى الذين أخاطب

A greeting of peace and the offering of salutations are due

To the purest company, those whom I address;

على من إذا داعي المتابِ دَعَابِهِم

على من إذا داعي المتابِ دَعَابِهِم

فكلُّهم داعٍ إليه وتائب

فكلُّهم داعٍ إليه وتائب

To those who, when the caller to repentance summons them,

Each calls others to it and repents.

رعى الله هذا الجمع سراً وجهرة

رعى الله هذا الجمع سراً وجهرة

ففيه المعالي كلُّها والمناقب

ففيه المعالي كلُّها والمناقب

May God guard this gathering, in secret and openly;

For in it are all lofty virtues and noble merits.

بيُمنِ أمير المؤمنين وَمَنِّهِ

بيُمنِ أمير المؤمنين وَمَنِّهِ

وعزة هذا الأمر هذي الرغائب

وعزة هذا الأمر هذي الرغائب

Through the auspiciousness and bounty of the Commander of the Faithful,

And the might of this rule, come these coveted gifts.

إمام بكفِّ الدِّين منه مهند

إمام بكفِّ الدِّين منه مهند

له من رؤوس الناكثين ضرائب

له من رؤوس الناكثين ضرائب

An imam—in faith's hand he is a sword of Indian steel,

Whose targets are the heads of oath-breakers.

تقبَّل آثار الأئمة قبله

تقبَّل آثار الأئمة قبله

فلا الظلّ مفقود ولا النّور غائب

فلا الظلّ مفقود ولا النّور غائب

He embraced the legacies of the imams before him,

So the shade is not lost, nor is the light absent.

له من دعاء المسلمين وحبِّهم

له من دعاء المسلمين وحبِّهم

كتائب مصنوع لها ومواكب

كتائب مصنوع لها ومواكب

From the Muslims' prayers and their love he has

Battalions shown favor, and processions.

فسل عنه آفاق البلاد وأهلها

فسل عنه آفاق البلاد وأهلها

تَلُح لك أثناء الجواب عجائب

تَلُح لك أثناء الجواب عجائب

So ask the land's horizons and its people about him;

Wonders will appear to you in the course of the reply.

وما هي إلاَّ مكنة وعناية

وما هي إلاَّ مكنة وعناية

تهيئها الأقدار والله غالب

تهيئها الأقدار والله غالب

And all this is but power and providential care,

Which destiny prepares; and God prevails.

بها ائتلفت هذي القلوب على التُّى

بها ائتلفت هذي القلوب على التُّى

وهل تكشف الظلماء إلاَّ الكواكب

وهل تكشف الظلماء إلاَّ الكواكب

Through it these hearts were united in [piety],

And do any but the stars dispel the darkness?

إذا الغيم عمَّ الخافقين تدفقا

إذا الغيم عمَّ الخافقين تدفقا

فلا عجب في أن تطيب المشارب

فلا عجب في أن تطيب المشارب

When the clouds cover both horizons in a downpour,

Then it is no wonder that the drinking waters turn sweet.
