When a proof for the Hashimite shines forth dazzlingly,
When a sign shines brilliantly for the Hashimite,
how many arguments and signs lie folded within it!
Then how many proofs and signs lie within its folds!

How often he brought riches to a supplicant’s palm,
For how often he bestowed wealth on a beggar’s palm,
and how often granted the wish conceived by one who asked.
And how often he granted a petitioner’s mind its wishes!

Beyond the veils of the unseen, he has a testimony—
Beneath the veils of the unseen lies testimony for him,
an unimpeachable one that leaves no claim for anyone to make.
Duly attested, leaving no speaker anything to say.

He tells of what has been and of what is yet to be;
He tells of what was, or what now is;
so judge the truth of later tidings by the first.
So judge the later instances of his truthfulness by the earlier ones.

If truth has never failed you in its mornings,
If truth has not failed you in his mornings,
then surely you may trust it in the evenings.
Then there is no doubt about believing him in the evenings.

Proof enough for you concerning tidings of the unseen is this:
And for tidings of the unseen, it is enough for you that
you will hear them handed down from the words of those who tell.
You will hear them relayed from the words of a speaker.
