We found the pure, fair one of Quraysh,

a youth between the caliph and the Messenger.

Glory came to you from here and there,

and you were at the confluence of its torrents.

So glory has no night lodging apart from you,

and glory has no noonday resting place apart from you.

May he whom truth shuns be your ransom,

and he who satisfies his brother with little.

But for you, my riding camels would not have departed

laden with wealth, nor would they have praised my journey.
