أَعَيَّرتُمونيHave you reproached me? أَنbecause دَعَتنيit called me أَخاهُمُtheir brother
سُلَيمٌSulaym وَأَعطَتنيand it gave me بِأَيمانِهاwith its right hands سَعدُSaʿd
Have you reproached me for being called their brother
by Sulaym, while Saʿd offered me its right hands in pledge?
فَكُنتُso I was وَسيطاًof noble standing فيamong سُلَيمٍSulaym مُعاقِداًentering a covenant
لِسَعدٍwith Saʿd وَسَعدٌand Saʿd ماnot يُحَلُّis undone لَهاfor it عَقدُa covenant
So I held noble standing among Sulaym, bound by covenant
to Saʿd—and no covenant of Saʿd's is undone.
صَبَبتُI poured عَلَيكُمupon you حاصِبيmy storm of stones فَتَركتُكُمand so I left you
كَأَصرامِlike the clans of عادٍʿĀd حينَwhen جَلَّلَهاit engulfed them الرُمدُdestruction
I poured my storm of stones upon you and left you
like the clans of ʿĀd when destruction engulfed them.
