لَهُ ذراعٌ ذاتُ نيرَينِ وَكَف
A rough man stepped up to her.
A violent man stood up towards her
He had an arm with twin muscular ridges, and a hand.
With arms of double strength and palm
فَقَذّهاthen he struck her بَينَbetween قَفاهاher nape وَالكَتِفand the shoulder

Then he struck her between her nape and shoulder.
So he smashed her between her nape and shoulder
In it were fleshy folds and lumps of fat.
In it were fractures, gashes, and contusions
وَاِستَيقَنَتand she became certain أَنَّthat الصَليفthe neckbone مُنعَسِفbroken

كَأَنَّها غَلثى من الرَخم تَدِف
And she knew for certain that her neckbone was broken.
And she was certain that the wicked one was brutal
As though she were a surfeited vulture, fluttering close to the ground.
As if she was lifeless refuse cast off
