هَلِwould ...? اللَهُGod لَوif أَشرَكتُI ascribed partners to God كانَwould be مُعَذِّبيmy punisher
هَلِ اللَهُ لَو أَشرَكتُ كانَ مُعَذِّبي
بِأَكثَرَwith more مِنthan أَنّيthat I لِجاهِكَfor your influence آمِلُhopeful
بِأَكثَرَ مِن أَنّي لِجاهِكَ آمِلُ
Would God, had I ascribed partners to Him, have punished me
If I had associated others with Allah, would He have punished me
with anything worse than my hoping for your influence?
More than that I hope for Your forgiveness?
هَلِمّواcome, all of you اِعجَبواmarvel, all of you مِنat أَنبَهِthe most renowned الناسِpeople كُلِّهِمall of them
هَلِمّوا اِعجَبوا مِن أَنبَهِ الناسِ كُلِّهِم
ذَريعَتُهُhis intermediary فيماin what يُحاوِلُhe seeks خامِلُan obscure man
ذَريعَتُهُ فيما يُحاوِلُ خامِلُ
Come, marvel at the most renowned of all people:
Come and wonder at the most alert of all people
his intermediary in what he seeks is an obscure man.
Whose means in all he attempts are inadequate
أَيَرضىwould he accept? بِضَعفٍwith weakness فيin وَسائِلِهِhis means اِمرُؤٌa man
أَيَرضى بِضَعفٍ في وَسائِلِهِ اِمرُؤٌ
لَهُhe has حَرَكاتٌmovements كُلُّهُنَّall of them وَسائِلُmeans
لَهُ حَرَكاتٌ كُلُّهُنَّ وَسائِلُ
Would a man accept weakness in his means,
Would a man be satisfied with inadequacy in his means
when his every move is a means to an end?
When all his actions are directed to the means?
