O son of that woman in Harran—when she

sprouted, she put forth branches of fornication.

Let not the rams daunt you—for you have been

given all the equipment for butting you could desire.

You gave freely of your rear; the old woman, of her front.

Congratulations—you two have borne away the prize for generosity.

    هَرُ كَعبٌ وَلا مُباري الرِياحِ

    Bravo, bravo! None has come near your generosity;

O Azhar—neither Kaʿb nor the one who vies with the winds.

You would almost deserve the name, if only your rear stood

before you in battle, O challenger of the winds.

My mistrust sheltered me from his passion,

so I placed divorce before marriage.
