أَصداغُهُhis sidelocks أَلِفٌan alif (Arabic letter) وَلامُand a lam (Arabic letter)
أَصداغُهُ أَلِفٌ وَلامُ
وَلِحاظُهُand his glances سَيفٌa sword حُسامُkeen-edged
وَلِحاظُهُ سَيفٌ حُسامُ
His sidelocks are an alif and a lam,
His cheeks are alif and lam
and his glances are a keen-edged sword.
His garment is a sharp sword
وَكَلامُهُand his speech دُرٌّpearls هَوىfell
وَكَلامُهُ دُرٌّ هَوى
لَمّاwhen تَخَوَّنَهُbetrayed it النِظامُthe string
لَمّا تَخَوَّنَهُ النِظامُ
And his speech is pearls that fell
His words are beloved pearls
when the string betrayed them.
When the system betrayed him
لَمdid not يَنتَقِصfall short فيin حُسنِهِhis beauty
لَم يَنتَقِص في حُسنِهِ
فَلَهُso to him الكَمالَةُperfection وَالتَمامُand completeness
فَلَهُ الكَمالَةُ وَالتَمامُ
He lacked nothing in his beauty,
His beauty was not diminished
so his are perfection and completeness.
For he has perfection and completeness
عَبَدَworshipped الجَمالُbeauty جَمالَهُhis beauty
عَبَدَ الجَمالُ جَمالَهُ
فَلَهُso to him التَحِيَّةُsalutation وَالسَلامُand peace
فَلَهُ التَحِيَّةُ وَالسَلامُ
Beauty worshipped his beauty,
Beauty worshiped his beauty
so to him be salutation and peace.
So to him greetings and peace
