نَظَريmy gaze إِلَيكَat you عَلَيكَagainst you يَشtestifies (first part)
نَظَري إِلَيكَ عَلَيكَ يَش
هَدُtestifies (completion) ليfor me بِأَنَّكَthat you ليto me حَبيبُbeloved
هَدُ لي بِأَنَّكَ لي حَبيبُ
My gaze at you bears witness against you
on my behalf, that you are my beloved.
وَتَباعُديand my keeping away حَذَرَfor fear of الوُشاthe slanderers (first part)
وَتَباعُدي حَذَرَ الوُشا
ةِthe slanderers (completion) وَأَنتَand you مِنto قَلبيmy heart قَريبُnear
ةِ وَأَنتَ مِن قَلبي قَريبُ
And I keep my distance for fear of slanderers,
though you are close to my heart.
فَاُنظُرso look إِلىat وَلَعيmy ardor بِذِكin remembering (first part)
فَاُنظُر إِلى وَلَعي بِذِك
رِكَremembering you (completion) كُلَّماwhenever غَفَلَgrew heedless الرَقيبُthe watcher
رِكَ كُلَّما غَفَلَ الرَقيبُ
So look at my ardor in remembering
you whenever the watcher grows heedless.
وَاُنظُرand look إِلىat جِسميmy body فَفيfor in
وَاُنظُر إِلى جِسمي فَفي
ماwhat حَلَّbefell بيupon me العَجَبُthe wonder العَجيبُwondrous
ما حَلَّ بي العَجَبُ العَجيبُ
And look at my body, for in
what has befallen me lies a wondrous marvel.
