يَصُدُّنيholds me back عَنfrom كَلامِكَspeaking to you الشَفَقُapprehension
يَصُدُّني عَن كَلامِكَ الشَفَقُ
فَالرُسلُso the messengers بَينيbetween me وَبَينَكَand between you الحَدَقُthe pupils of the eyes
فَالرُسلُ بَيني وَبَينَكَ الحَدَقُ
Apprehension keeps me from speaking to you.
So the pupils of our eyes are messengers between you and me.
حَديثُناour conversation فيin الضَميرِthe heart مُتَّفِقٌin accord
حَديثُنا في الضَميرِ مُتَّفِقٌ
وَأَمرُناand our affair فيin الجَميعِcompany مُفتَرِقُdivided
وَأَمرُنا في الجَميعِ مُفتَرِقُ
Our conversation is in accord within our hearts,
yet in company we remain apart.
توحيhint بِأَسرارِناat our secrets حَواجِبُناour eyebrows
توحي بِأَسرارِنا حَواجِبُنا
وَأَعيُنٌand eyes بِالوِصالِof union تَرتَشِقُexchange darting glances
وَأَعيُنٌ بِالوِصالِ تَرتَشِقُ
Our eyebrows hint at our secrets,
and eyes exchange darting glances of union.
