خَلَسَsnatched away البَينُseparation أَحمَدَAhmad بنَson of يَزيدِYazid
خَلَسَ البَينُ أَحمَدَ بنَ يَزيدِ
لَيسَis not فِعلُdeed الأَيّامِthe days بِالمَحمودِpraiseworthy
لَيسَ فِعلُ الأَيّامِ بِالمَحمودِ
Separation snatched away Ahmad ibn Yazid.
The separation has cheated Ahmed the son of Yazeed
What the days have done is not praiseworthy.
The actions of time are not praiseworthy
وَنَأىand went far away الهَجرُestrangement بِالَّذيwith the one whom لاnot أُسَمّيI name
وَنَأى الهَجرُ بِالَّذي لا أُسَمّي
فَأَناso I اليَومَtoday فيin القَريبِthe near one البَعيدِthe distant one
فَأَنا اليَومَ في القَريبِ البَعيدِ
And estrangement carried far away the one I do not name.
And estrangement has taken away the one I do not name
So today I am with the one who is near yet far.
So today I am in the near far
فَفِراقٌso a parting أَصابَنيbefell me مِنfrom فِراقٍparting
فَفِراقٌ أَصابَني مِن فِراقٍ
وَفِراقٌand a parting أَصابَنيbefell me مِنfrom صُدودِrejection
وَفِراقٌ أَصابَني مِن صُدودِ
So one parting befell me through departure,
A separation has afflicted me from separations
and another parting befell me through rejection.
And a separation has afflicted me from repulsions
لَيسَis not مَنone who كانَwas غائِباًabsent فَقَدَتهُlost him الthe
لَيسَ مَن كانَ غائِباً فَقَدَتهُ ال
عَينُeye حَقّاًtruly كَالشاهِدِlike the one present المَفقودِthe lost one
عَينُ حَقّاً كَالشاهِدِ المَفقودِ
No absent one, lost to the
He who was absent is not really missed by the eye
eye, is truly like one present yet lost.
Like the witnessed lost
